Frank Theatres iPhone App
This is a concept design for Frank Theatres. Frank currently has no dedicated smartphone or tablet app. The assignment was to choose a local business and develop a system that better facilitates the customer experience. We were tasked with identifying the "gaps" in the customer experience and to fill those gaps using sustainable solutions such as a website, a mobile app, augmented reality, NFC, Paypal Beacon or Apple iBeacon technology. These systems also had to appeal to at least 3 of our 5 senses. I chose our local Frank Cinemas Victory 9. I had already noticed their online/mobile ticket purchasing solutions were light years behind their larger competitors. However, I also noticed that, while others might advertise discounts on concessions, no one offered a path to purchase concessions ahead of time. This single app provides the user the ability to register a profile with saved funding sources and location information. It can also utilize the iPhone's location services to more quickly locate a nearby theatre or movie. Along with purchasing tickets, app users can order and purchase a "manager's special" at a discount. Geo tagging restricts concession orders to be placed while the user is off-site. Finally, the app houses an Aurasma augmented reality viewer allowing users to view trailers when they capture the image of a movie poster. This feature makes that poster virtually come to life as well as become interactive on the iPhone's screen. "Frank Theatres" and "Victory Stadium 9" are trademarks of Frank Entertainment, Inc.
